This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to help shape, mould and redefine the IT Project Management function. To be a key member of the IT project delivery function within the wider IT team, responsible for contributing to, and the delivery of, various work packages, workstreams and small/medium projects initiated from within IT and/or wider business projects and initiatives. You'll ensure the IT project delivery function delivers the right outcomes for colleagues and customers, doing so safely, effectively and efficiently and following the GWR project management methodology and adoption of best practice. You'll help support and mature the IT project delivery function's reputation as a team that delivers on-time and on-budget.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- To deliver allocated aspects of project delivery (work packages, workstreams, projects) as agreed with the Senior Project Manager, through the use of appropriate tools and methods to include:
- Planning - Of project, work streams and work packages Definition and Requirements gathering (including workshop facilitation)
- Definition of objectives & outcomes – work with stakeholders to agree objectives and outcomes
- Stakeholder and communication plans – application of proportionate and appropriate communications to support the delivery of project / work streams / work packages
- Scope, Timescales, schedule, key milestones (Identify and Agreed)
- Constraints - Safety Management. Delivering change in a way that adheres to the safety environment of the railways
- Budget – support the generation of business cases for continued justification and delivery focus where required
- RAIDD; Risk, assumptions, issues and dependences, decisions
What sort of person are you looking for?
You'll need to be:
- An effective Project Management lead with fantastic communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships across functions and layers
- Expert project manager who's able to provide process and rigour to projects
- Knowledgeable of project methodologies and processes
- Proficient in the management of project assurance, quality reviews and change control
- Able to demonstrate strong collaborative working style
What do I need to have?
You must be experienced in project management, working with internal and external stakeholders. Desirable to have facilitation experience ranging i.e. project kick start events. A proactive approach to work and be able to work at pace.
