The post is a one-year fixed term contract based at the Great Western Hospital Swindon (GWH). It offers an exciting opportunity for a trainee interested in education, with a 50% focus on Acute Medicine and 50% on Postgraduate Medical Education. The role includes involvement in simulation training. This position is suitable for a ST3 - ST4 level doctor, such as those seeking further training in medical education through an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their Specialist training program. There is also an opportunity to undertake a PG Certification in Clinical Education.
The post involves assisting the Director of Medical Education and relevant clinical departments in designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating postgraduate training programs. These encompass clinical skills, simulation, quality improvement, and trainee support, including support for International Medical Graduates.
Main duties of the job- Provision of clinical education for postgraduate trainees, including simulation and clinical skills, supporting International Medical Graduate consultants.
- Participation in research projects or original work with the aim of publishing and presenting at national and international meetings.
- Bedside and classroom teaching of postgraduate trainees.
- Coordination of postgraduate trainees' teaching opportunities.
- Supporting clinical skills teaching and ward-based assessments.
- Evaluation of teaching activities.
- Undertaking necessary training to teach effectively.
