We have an exciting opportunity for a hard-working and enthusiastic dietitian to join our friendly team. Whether you are seeking your first dietetic role or looking to consolidate your general dietetic skills, this could be the position for you.

If you are eligible for HCPC registration but do not have it yet, we will consider your application. The role is based within our acute dietetic team at the Great Western Hospital. The successful candidate will join our band 5 acute rotation programme, which includes rotations in Cardiology & Respiratory, and Surgery.

Opportunities to participate in projects, audits, and to provide teaching/training sessions for patients and healthcare professionals are available.

Team and Development

Our team comprises 25 Dietitians, a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner, 2 Nutrition Nurses, 4 Dietetic Assistants, and a dedicated admin team. We prioritize career progression and continuous professional development, offering monthly CPD sessions, shadowing opportunities in specialties like ICU, oncology, parenteral nutrition, home enteral feeding, and diabetes, along with access to CPD funding and involvement in master's modules. All new staff are enrolled in the trust-wide preceptorship program. We also support placements for students and staff training.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide dietetic services to inpatients and outpatients, supported by senior dietitians and dietetic assistants.
  • Develop and manage dietetic services across various inpatient wards, including medical, stroke, and surgical units.
  • Manage patient referrals from ward areas using local protocols.
  • Oversee patients on enteral feeding, including calculating nutritional requirements and administering specialized products via naso-gastric or gastrostomy tubes.
  • Monitor biochemical parameters to ensure appropriate nutrition.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree or postgraduate diploma in Dietetics or Nutrition & Dietetics
  • HCPC registration
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with audits, CBT, or relevant BDA special interest groups
  • CPD relevant to nutrition support

Experience

  • Supervised dietetic placement or recent band 5 experience
  • Experience working within a team and with patient education programs
  • Experience with MUST or similar tools

Knowledge

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to patient and customer care
