Reporting to the Community Investment Manager, the Employability Coach will be responsible for providing employment and training advice and guidance to customers, working with them to understand the barriers and challenges they face and their ambitions for the future. Helping them to identify the skills and tools they need to seek employment or training now or in the future.
What you'll be doing:
- Working with customers from across the Customer Services Directorate, including Independence and Wellbeing and Neighbourhoods.
- Conducting 1:1 coaching sessions, in schemes, homes and virtually.
- Running drop-in sessions within I&W schemes and community centres.
- Delivering employability/pre-employment workshops/courses.
- Signposting to other agencies through appropriate referral routes.
- Empowering front line colleagues to provide in-the-moment support and generate more referrals to our team.
- Supporting the delivery of funded programmes when required and relevant.
- Aligning service delivery with the aims and objectives of the Community Investment and Sustainable Neighbourhoods strategies, as well as the principles stated within the Community Investment model.
What you'll need:
- Relevant professional qualifications/memberships (Institute of Customer Service Qualification, IAG level 3 or 4 qualification) or relevant working experience.
- Organisation and ability to time-manage workload.
- Able to deliver a high standard of customer service.
- Experience of working in an employment and skills related field and/or Welfare to Work sector is essential for this role.
- Experience of delivering 1:1 support to customers around employment and training.
- Experience of using coaching techniques to help customers identify actions and solutions for themselves, promoting and maximising independence.
- Ability to engage and build relationships with potential or trusted partner agencies or organisations, developing appropriate contacts and future networking opportunities.
- Experience of providing training and peer-to-peer support to effectively share specialist knowledge and learning.
- Experience of detailed administration and recording procedures, maintaining confidentiality in line with data protection and safeguarding regulations.

- You will be required to attend a number of face-to-face training sessions as well as virtual sessions and e-learning; this part of your role is vital and of equal importance as the day-to-day aspects.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of providing employability support or similar.
- Knowledge or experience in coaching practices.
- Good networker, with the ability to build relationships with relevant partners and stakeholders.
- Good IT skills.
