We are looking for someone exceptional to join our dedicated Medical HR team and play a key role in supporting the medical workforce at GOSH. You will be joining us at a time where we are committed to improving our service delivery and this role is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the driving force behind the team’s development.

What we’re looking for:

  • Significant experience in medical recruitment and HR advisory within the NHS or similar complex organisation or equivalent
  • Knowledge of NHS medical terms and conditions, including 2016 TCS and 2002 New Deal.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with senior clinicians and managers.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to deliver high standards of service.

Main duties of the job:

  • Acting as a source of expert knowledge on medical recruitment and NHS Terms & Conditions.
  • Managing end-to-end recruitment for consultants and supporting campaigns for junior doctors and SAS doctors.
  • Overseeing payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate pay.
  • Supervising the Medical HR team and ensuring smooth rotations across all specialities.
  • Leading on compliance with national guidance and local processes for recruitment.
  • Driving continuous improvement and quality assurance across recruitment and onboarding.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Culture and Values:

Essential criteria:

  • Significant experience of medical recruitment and selection process and practice in the NHS or similar organisation
  • Experience in the public sector in a complex organisation
  • Knowledge of the various Medical and Dental terms and conditions of service
  • Good knowledge of MS Office programmes, particularly MS Excel and use of formulas

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience of line managing staff

  • Track record of providing sound Medical HR advice to services, managers and medical staff
  • Proven effective problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work with unpredictable situations and under pressure and to tight deadlines with frequent interruptions
  • Able to prioritise own workload and help to prioritise that of the wider team
  • Ability to apply mathematical skills to complex pay calculations
  • Highly organised
  • Able to deliver messages effectively at all levels, detailing often complex matters in a way that is easy to understand
  • Evidence of and commitment to continued learning / development
