An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Data Manager to join our dynamic multidisciplinary research team at the NIHR Clinical Research Facility based in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. This cutting-edge Research facility provides a high quality, clinical environment, in which children and young people can take part in research programmes safely and effectively, according to robust and ethically approved protocols.

The post-holder will be responsible for managing trial data and the database on a day-to-day basis, supported by research managers and clinical staff from a diverse portfolio of exciting studies across the trust.

The post will focus on the data management requirements for the the dermatology MissionEB-DELIVER study. This would be ideal for an experienced Data Manager with a background in clinical research.

Main duties of the job

he role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple studies simultaneously while maintaining high standards of data quality and confidentiality. Experience of clinical research data management, electronic data capture systems and working within Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines would be highly advantageous.

This position would be ideal for an experienced Data Manager with a background in clinical research who is looking to contribute to innovative paediatric research in a supportive and collaborative environment. Academic/Professional qualification/Training

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of health information management acquired through a relevant specialist qualification or equivalent experience of information handling and analysis gained in a work environment
  • Qualified to ‘A’ Level/NVQ Level 3 standard or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline ( science, health, health management, social science)
  • Good Clinical Practice training
  • Electronic Health Record System training
  • Experience of working in a clinical trial environment in either a pharmaceutical company, NHS Trust or university

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working on multiple parallel tasks to strict and often tight deadlines.
  • Experience of managing information systems and developing databases and spreadsheets
  • Experience of analysing large quantities of complex information from databases, generating reports and making appropriate recommendations
  • Relevant secretarial/administrative experience (ideally in a health care setting)
  • Knowledge of GDPR

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of research methodologies and current national systems and structures for the approval, management and monitoring of clinical research in the NHS
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience working in a clinical environment

Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Computer literate with good IT skills including the upkeep of databases
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels
  • Able to handle sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Able to transcribe data in a timely and consistently accurate manner with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work calmly under pressure and manage and prioritise own and others workloads whilst performing to tight deadlines
  • Able to make sound judgements, use own initiative and work with minimal day‑to‑day supervision
