A fixed-term maternity cover Band 6 Dietitian position within the Feeding and Eating Disorders Team and the Mildred Creak Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. The role supports children with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorders, generalised feeding disorders, Anorexia Nervosa and other mental health diagnoses.

Contract: 12 months, fixed term (maternity cover until 2 August 2027). Hours: 37.5 per week. Salary: 47951-56863 per annum, pro rata. Closing date: 22 June 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive and quality dietetic FEDS service for inpatients and outpatients, working to agreed standards, policies and procedures.
  • Use specialised knowledge to manage a caseload of feeding and eating disorders.
  • Assess patients’ needs and make clinical decisions regarding nutritional support and dietary interventions, taking account of diet history, growth, biochemical parameters and drug treatments.
  • Interpret normal nutritional requirements in childhood and apply them to the sick child according to the disease process to initiate and maintain treatment plans.
  • Attend ward rounds, contribute to clinical decision-making, and maintain patient records to departmental standards.
  • Communicate complex dietary information to the multidisciplinary team and to patients and carers, using verbal and written resources sensitive to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity.
  • Plan for discharge and coordinate with local healthcare providers such as GPs, health visitors, community paediatric nurses, dietitians and others.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, or equivalent post-graduate qualification.
  • Registered as a Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Post-graduate experience in general dietetics.
  • Significant experience working in clinical paediatrics at Band 6 level.
  • Experience in feeding/eating disorders.
  • Good communication, oral presentation and time-management skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Experience in audit, research or teaching is desirable.
  • Post-graduate Paediatric Masters modules (BDA/Uni of Plymouth) are desirable.
