An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North Thames Genomic Medicine Service (NT GMS) as our Education, Training & Workforce Lead. This is a senior strategic leadership role with the NT GMS. As genomics becomes embedded into routine healthcare, you will lead the development and delivery of innovative education and workforce strategies that enable healthcare professionals across the region to confidently and effectively use genomic medicine in clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

Working across a complex network of NHS organisations, educational institutions, professional bodies and national partners, you will play a critical role in developing the workforce needed to deliver the NHS Genomic Medicine Service and support the ambitions set out in the NHS 10-Year Plan.

    • Masters level qualification in education field or equivalent experience
    • Proven evidence of continuing professional development
    • Post graduate teaching qualification
    • PhD or undertaking study at a doctorate level
  • Experience/Knowledge Essential criteria
    • NHS/public sector management and leadership experience
    • Significant and proven education leadership experience in large and complex public sector organisation
    • Experience of working across boundaries and influencing senior colleagues at local and governmental level
    • Track record of assessing, formulating, designing / commissioning major educational interventions
    • Proven evidence of understanding of inclusive and diverse educational approaches
    • Demonstrable experience of development educational strategy
    • Demonstrable experience of learning needs analysis within, and across, large and complex systems
    • Knowledge of funding routes and experience of writing successful bids
    • Experience of facilitation at stakeholder engagement/learning and development events
    • Robust knowledge of learning principles/theories and how there are applied to practice
