Based in Immunology, ID and Bone Marrow Transplantation
We are currently inviting applications for an exciting opportunity to gain or extend your clinical experience of Immunology, Infectious Diseases and Bone Marrow Transplantation in this unique and supportive environment within a busy children’s hospital.
The post is suitable for someone who wishes to consolidate previous experience/training in Immunology, Infectious Diseases and/or Bone Marrow Transplantation, or for someone with previous middle-grade paediatric experience who has an interest in these areas. MRCPCH (or equivalent) is essential. The post-holders will be involved in the in-patient care of children affected by a wide range of primary immunodeficiency disorders and infectious diseases, and will also gain some experience of bone marrow transplantation, working as part of a larger team of middle grade doctors. Applicants must be registered with the GMC with a Licence to Practice or eligible for registration.
This is an established Trust Fellow post, working in the Immunology/Infectious Diseases/BMT Unit. The post holder will join the teams managing the care of Immunology, Infectious Diseases and BMT in-patients and children attending the Safari Day care unit. The immunology department offers a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment service for children with recurrent infections and primary immunodeficiency. Some of the severe forms of immunodeficiency are treated by bone marrow transplantation (BMT). There is an active translational research programme in gene therapy for immune deficiencies and novel cell based therapies for treatment of these conditions.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
- MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent
- General Professional training
- Full GMC registration with Licence to Practice or IELTS Certificate with an overall score of or Occupational English Test (medicine version) with a minimum score of ‘B’ in each domain.
Experience/Knowledge
- A minimum of 2 years full time hospital service in paediatrics in the SHO/ TF/ST role
- Ability to carry out relevant procedures independently
- Good general paediatric knowledge
- Evidence of experience in immunology and infectious diseases as well as general paediatrics
- Evidence of ability to manage sick infants and children including neutropenic sepsis and acute neurological deterioration.
