The Senior Business Partner and Sourcing Lead for Corporate Service will act as the main point of contact for procurement across a wide range of directorates. They will be responsible for delivering an excellent procurement service, working collaboratively with colleagues and acting as senior adviser to the leadership team gaining their trust. The job holder will be directly responsible for managing the portfolio of contracts, maintaining the procurement pipeline and developing a category strategy for estates and facilities management. Delivery of savings will be a key responsibility.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the development and execution of sourcing activities and category strategies for corporate services in GOSH, acting as the senior business partner for a wide range of corporate service directorates.
  • Take a leading role to champion and implement GOSH Procurement Vision to be a strategic enabler of the Trust strategic priorities, repositioning procurement from a transactional function to a driver of organisational value and improved patient experience.
  • Deliver the full end-to-end sourcing lifecycle including procurement strategy, tendering, award, and when required contract management.
  • Proactively manage the entire contract portfolio and develop and maintain the procurement pipeline for all corporate services, using Atamis.
  • Challenge sourcing strategies to improve value for money for GOSH, championing competitive tender and further competition.
  • Contribute to and review business cases to demonstrate value, benefits, and risks of sourcing activities.
  • Champion procurement as a key enabling function, promoting its strategic value across the Trust.
  • Maintain responsibility for overall performance for procurement in Space and Place, including the delivery of PPS.
  • Attend relevant meetings to ensure Procurement delivers excellent customer services to clinical areas.

Person specification

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

  • Essential criteria: University degree, MBA or CIPS qualification at Level 6 (Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply equivalent to 3-years university degree) or relevant experience.
  • Desirable criteria: Government Commercial Organisation (GCO), Assessment and Development Centre (ADC) accreditation at level Associate Commercial Specialist and above, with grade A.

Culture and Values

  • Essential criteria: Knowledge and understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Understanding of Diversity and Inclusion challenges in the workplace. Demonstrable contribution to advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Desirable criteria: Knowledge and experience of NHS terms and conditions. Understanding of corporate services categories.

  • Essential criteria: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to gain trust and act as a strategic adviser to Senior Management Team and Executive Directors. Good collaboration skills with internal stakeholders, other corporate functions, like finance, to deliver a seamless service to stakeholders. Ability to challenge effectively senior stakeholders and provide constructive solutions to meet business needs while reducing legal and financial risks for the Trust. Ability to make effective decisions based on robust analysis and taking ownership to deliver results. Strong planning and organisational skills for example to develop complex procurement category plans. Strong commercial acumen and market insight.
