Great Ormond Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and aspiring individual to take on an administrative role within the world-renowned Gastroenterology service at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We are seeking an enthusiastic and friendly individual to work within our supportive, knowledgeable and rewarding team. The successful candidate must have a willingness to learn and continually develop their skills, with the ability to use their own initiative and be dedicated and hardworking.
This post is a high-profile part of the clinical administration team and will be responsible for providing a high standard of administrative support to the Gastroenterology Service, as well as participating in adhoc projects for service developments and improving the patient experience. The successful candidate will have NHS experience and be well versed in RTT policies and procedures. They will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and can multitask and prioritise their workload.
This post plays an important role in co-ordinating patients through their clinical pathway by ensuring that the administrative processes and information are efficient, effective, and clearly documented in line with NHS referral to treatment (RTT) standards.
Main duties of the job include:
- Working closely with all teams to provide high quality care for patients within the Gastroenterology service.
- Forging close working relationships with administration colleagues, clinical/medical staff within the department and other MDT colleagues both internal and external to the department.
- Managing multiple changing priorities by working flexibly within the team.
- Having a working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft programmes, as well as experience with electronic patient records/information systems.
- Managing and co-ordinating multi-disciplinary team meetings, identifying and correcting data quality issues, and recognising areas in need of improvement.

- Experience of working as part of a diverse team.

- Demonstrable administration experience in healthcare.
- Understanding of NHS systems and procedures.

- Qualified to Degree Level or equivalent training.
- Minute taking.
Skills and abilities required:
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
- Ability to work autonomously with the confidence to take decisions.
- High level of competence in using Windows applications including Word and Excel.
