The Head of Contract and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Lead will play a pivotal role in establishing good contract management practices across the Trust. This includes leading a community of practice for contract managers across the Trust enabling them to hold suppliers to account and occasionally providing expert guidance on complex contract issues working closely with the Sourcing Team. The job holder will ensure the use of adequate NHS Terms and Conditions and lead the way to phase out signing suppliers’ terms. They will also take the lead to develop a Strategic Supplier Relationship Programme collaborating, when necessary, with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) for the fifteen NHS strategic suppliers.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for all contract management activities across the entire organisation, overseeing the full contract portfolio of more than £200M of contracted spend.
  • Work closely with the heads of procurement for the single areas to develop long term strategies for contracts to increase value for the Trust and with the Director of Commercial to develop strategic plans to leverage the GOSH brand with key strategic suppliers to increase the value for GOSH.
  • Establish and lead a community of practice of over 100 contract managers across the Trust with varying degrees of experience and expertise in managing contracts.
  • Develop, launch and implement Contract Management Policy to set the standard for contract management in the Trust.
  • Develop and rollout tools and templates for contract management.
  • Develop and rollout contract management training for all contract managers in the organisation, leveraging the Cabinet Office Contract Management Capability Programme and equivalent in the Department for Health and Social Care.
  • Manage training budget for contract management for the Trust.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

Essential criteria

  • University degree, MBA or CIPS qualification at Level 6 (Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply equivalent to 3-years university degree) or relevant experience.

Desirable criteria

  • Government Commercial Organisation (GCO), Assessment and Development Centre (ADC) accreditation at level Associate Commercial Specialist and above, with grade A.
