At GOSH Charity we are creating a people centric digital practice to support the charity to be industry leaders in use of digital, data and AI. As Lead Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our digital platforms, leading the development of our charity and hospital websites and influencing wider technology initiatives. You'll be part of a friendly, diverse, and collaborative team that values innovation, openness, and continuous learning, working together to solve problems and improve things for our charity supporters and ultimately the lives of seriously ill children. Salary
The salary range for this position is £69,350 - £73,000 per annum. We operate a hybrid working policy of a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Own the development and architecture of our site, ensuring security, reliability, accessibility and robustness.
- Hands on Development: Lead by example, guiding the development team in technical design, development, testing and deployment (current stack: Python / Django, may change in the future).
- Ownership: Oversight and freedom within the full development lifecycle, from feature conception to feature release.
- Strategy: Help define and evolve the direction for our platform and engineering team.
- Engineering Culture: Provide technical leadership for engineering teams, championing best practice in software development, leading by example in a delivery focussed environment where learning and innovation thrive.
- Mentoring & Growth: Provide mentoring and support for engineers, fostering a collaborative, high performing team.
- Innovation: Enabling an environment of learning, continuous improvement and openness to try new things.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Strong ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects independently.
- Previous experience as a lead or senior developer mentoring developers.
- 4+ years of experience in Python/Django development.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS (Sass/Less), and modern front-end frameworks:
- React
- JavaScript
- TypeScript
- Node.js
