Lead Nurse (Vaccinations)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a lead nurse to join the Nursing Directorate at a world -class children's hospital.

We are looking for an ambitious, talented and compassionate team player to join our team of excellent staff to lead on the delivery of the Trust's immunisations for our patients.

You will lead the delivery of the wider strategy to ensure we successfully vaccinate CYP in all settings at GOSH. This would include overseeing a programme of administrative, educational, and clinical work to ensure children are offered catch up vaccinations if eligible.

Main duties of the job

As a Lead Nurse for vaccinations, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for the delivery of immunisations to our patients at GOSH. Embed this project across all Directorates and ensure it is sustainable. Longer term support the commercial and non-commercial paediatric vaccine trials and help to support a portfolio of vaccine research. Develop an SOP to support the delivery of vaccinations and ensure this is aligned with the UKHSA guidance.

The post holder will undertake a clinical supervisory role, overseeing a team of nurses who have undertaken the national immunisation training and support the wider public health promotion of immunisation across GOSH.

Person specification

Academic/Professional Qualification/Training

• NMC Registered Nurse
• Degree level education or demonstrable equivalent experience in a relevant health related field
• Current immunisation training/update or willingness to undertake
• Evidence of continuing professional development

Skills/Abilities

• Excellent communication skills (including written, verbal and presentation skills)
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Experience/Knowledge

• Experience of engaging, motivating and leading individuals and teams and managing change.
• Knowledge of immunisation schedules in accordance with national recommendations
• Previous experience in a similar supervisory role
• Experience of engaging, motivating and leading individuals and teams and managing change.
• Understanding of principles of population screening and vaccination.
