The salary for this position is £32,974 per annum and we operate a hybrid working policy of a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. In line with our EDI strategy and Total Reward policy, we calculate our salaries based on benchmarking data across the charity sector. To ensure fairness for existing staff and new joiners, we do not offer salaries above the advertised rate.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Communications Coordinator to be part of GOSH Charity’s busy and ambitious Communications team. This permanent, full-time role is vital to the successful functioning of the Communications team. We are looking for someone who is highly organised and who will enjoy working as part of a fast‑paced team. This role sits mainly within the press team (known internally as the External Communications team) and Family Stories team, but will also provide vital administrative support to the overall Communications directorate.

Day to day responsibilities include working closely with GOSH patients and families to help tell their inspiring stories and helping to deliver impactful press coverage on key campaigns, working closely with the rest of the press team to develop skills in this area. The role will also involve ensuring the smooth running of the Communications team as a whole, through administrative support, coordination of meetings and events and enhancing collaboration across teams.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • We're looking for a highly efficient organiser who is enthusiastic and willing to get stuck into the team’s busy day-to-day work.
  • A natural relationship builder with a keen eye for detail, you’ll be comfortable interacting with people who work both inside and outside the charity and be able to prioritise your time, balancing it between essential administrative support and specific project work.
  • Demonstrable interest in the news and media.
  • Worked in a Communications role or had other relevant experience in Communications.
  • Previous experience of working in an office environment, demonstrating experience of managing and maintaining administrative systems to support the smooth running of the team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of personal data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor content for a variety of channels and audiences.
  • Attention to detail and providing high-quality and precise work, including ability to work well under pressure.
  • The ability to work independently, using initiative and sound judgement.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise workload, planning and organising daily and weekly activities in order to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to use initiative and understanding of when to ask for support.
  • Preferably, experience of working in a not-for-profit organisation, though this is not essential.
