An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Connect EPR Team, which supports both Great Ormond Street Children Hospital NHSFT and Royal Marsden NHSFT. Our vision is to deliver efficient and effective patient care through easy-to-use digital systems including Epic that provide staff and patients with access to the right information, in the right place, at the right time.

We are just about to launch an exciting and ambitious new 18-month programme focused on Epic User Satisfaction and Efficiency (Thrive) at GOSH, and are looking to increase our team size to support this initiative as well as continue with other optimisation priorities. We are looking for passionate individuals to join our team and further enhance the digital services we provide. Much of this work requires close collaborative and co-ordinated working with other EPR application teams. We also work closely with technical specialists from our EPR supplier Epic. You will be joining a well-structured team who provide mutual training and support as needed. If not already certified in any of the Epic applications mentioned above, you must be prepared to undertake training and, within five months of start date, become qualified in at least one of the relevant applications. Post-pandemic our team will continue to work flexibly with a combination of remote and office based working days.

Main duties of the job:

  • Experience in the following application areas would be helpful, but not essential: Inpatients, Outpatients, Cadence/PAS, OpTime.
  • The successful candidate will need a good understanding of relevant clinical or administrative workflows.
  • We will provide the necessary support and training for you to become an expert analyst, covering all aspects of the role such as project management, workflow design, configuring build and testing of new functionality in Epic.
  • A typical day may include a meeting with colleagues in the Trust to design a new workflow or optimising an existing workflow, configuring and testing new functionality or troubleshooting an end user issue.
  • We are regularly upgrading the system and so there is ample opportunity to explore and configure the latest Epic functionality, as well as support end users and provide training as necessary.

As an EPR Senior Configuration Analyst the post holder is responsible for:

  • Assisting ongoing optimisation of the Trust’s electronic patient record (EPR) system within a designated team.
  • Assisting with the ongoing end user training and support of the Trust’s end users; at times providing on-call support.
  • If required, gaining an additional Epic qualification through successfully completing Epic’s training programme (certified or proficient).
  • Working on several integrated areas to ensure a coordinated approach across all teams.

  • Ability to impart knowledge and/or present to others in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to cope with unpredictable and intense situations.
  • Able to lead meetings, resolve conflicts, maintain issue lists and work to a project plan.
  • Able to work collaboratively with own team members as well as those in other application teams.
  • Good analytical and project management skills.
  • Confident in working with, negotiating with and motivating clinical staff, medical consultants and other senior managers.
  • Ability to present and argue a case confidently and persuasively.
  • Ability to make decisions based on complex facts or situations requiring analysis, interpretation or comparison of a range of options.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Maths and English GCSE grade C or above or equivalent qualification.
