Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics Dermatology (ST5+) working in Paediatric Dermatology Department 6 Months Full time position (with possibility of extension)
40 basic hours plus an additional out of hours work equating to a maximum of 48 hours per week on average.
Based in the Department of Paediatric Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital
We are currently inviting applications for a Trust Fellow in Paediatrics, based in the department of Paediatric Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This post presents an exciting opportunity for a paediatrician/paediatric trainee grade/paediatric middle grade who is post MRCPCH and wishes to acquire unique experience in Paediatric Dermatology in this unique and supportive environment at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This post will also allow them to develop their career with paediatric dermatology as a Special Interest in Dermatology. Previous experience in paediatric dermatology and the ability to perform a skin biopsy is desired, but not mandatory. Please note this post is not suitable for a dermatologist due to out of hours work, covering other paediatric specialties at GOSH. MRCPCH (or equivalent) is required.
Main Duties of the Job
Scope of the Role
The post would be ideal for a paediatrician/paediatric trainee/paediatric middle grade who is post MRCPCH and wishes to acquire unique experience in Paediatric Dermatology. This post will also allow them to develop their career with paediatric dermatology as a Special Interest. The post holder will share responsibility for the care of paediatric dermatology in-patients, out-patients and day cases with the paediatric dermatology SpR and the other fellow. They will also be involved in assessing patients with paediatric dermatological problems who are under the care of other specialties. Previous experience in paediatric dermatology and the ability to perform a skin biopsy is desired, but not mandatory. This position is not suitable for a dermatology trainee or middle-grade dermatologist without sufficient prior experience in paediatrics (at least 3 years full time experience in paediatrics).
Observation of and active participation in outpatient clinics is encouraged, and this opportunity is shared among junior doctors during quieter periods on the ward. The post holder would also be encouraged to take part in clinical meetings, and to present case reports at local, national and international meetings, as well as in audit and research.
