  • To be a Band 5 chaplain in the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Team who provide for the pastoral, spiritual, pastoral and religious needs of patients, families and staff within the Trust.

Role

Under authority of the Lead Chaplain and Head of Spiritual Care, and directly managed by a Senior Chaplain, to work as part of the chaplaincy team, comprising multi-faith chaplains, bank chaplains, community faith/belief visitors, placement students and chaplaincy volunteers to offer appropriate, person-centred, timely spiritual care to patients, families and staff. In particular, the role will require the postholder:

  • To learn and develop in the skills necessary in order to maintain the highest quality of service required in a paediatric context though the agreed national, Trust and Team standards, and the Trust and Team objectives. To gain understanding of Spiritual Care policies and be competent and confident in working within them.
  • To be authorised and/or in good standing with an appropriate faith or belief group willing to formally endorse your role.
  • To have appropriate faith/belief community training and a specialised knowledge of own faith/belief community traditions, especially around illness, death and dying, in order to be able to offer appropriate and timely spiritual, religious or pastoral support to our patients, families and staff.
