If you do, then please consider this exciting opportunity to work within the Augmentative and Alternative Communication Service (ACS) and Neurodisability Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
If you have experience in working within a team supporting children and young people with special education and/or healthcare needs and you have a passion for technology, we would very much like to hear from you. You will have access to supervision and training opportunities with expert AAC practitioners within the specialist area, the wider Speech & Language Therapy Service and links to other national ACS services. We place a strong emphasis on personal and professional development and will provide opportunities for you to extend your skills and participate in high quality training and development programs.
Main duties of the job:
- The post is a Technical SLT Assistant, supporting the Therapy Team (Speech & Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy) in the maintenance, set up and review of equipment supplied to support the communication needs of children and young people who are seen in the service. This will be based predominantly on site at the hospital with occasional visits to schools and homes.

Job responsibilities:

Person Specification:
- Combined Values Essential
- Academic/Professional qualification/Training Essential
- English and Maths GCSE Level 7 or above pass
- Recognised NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification
- Desirable: Excel and database training
- Additional short course training relevant to clinical and admin areas e.g. Makaton BSL, Hanen, IT systems and software
Knowledge and Experience:
- Essential: Skills installing and uninstalling software
- Desirable: Previous experience managing a database of equipment
