The Great North Air Ambulance Service is one of the region's most respected and high-profile charities, delivering life-saving pre-hospital emergency care across the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

Operating within a complex, donation-funded environment, GNAAS is entering an important new phase of organisational development, including significant aviation, infrastructure and long-term sustainability planning.

As part of this evolution, GNAAS is seeking to appoint a Finance Director to strengthen executive financial leadership at Board level and support the organisation through its next stage of growth and maturity. This is a broad and strategically important role, working closely with the CEO, Trustees and wider leadership team across areas including:

  • Long-term financial strategy and planning
  • Treasury, reserves and investment oversight
  • Commercial evaluation and major procurement activity
  • Governance, assurance and risk management
  • Financial leadership across major investment and infrastructure decisions
  • Leadership and development of the finance function

The successful candidate is likely to bring:

  • Senior finance leadership experience within a complex organisation
  • Strong commercial and strategic capability
  • Board-level exposure and credibility
  • The ability to balance financial discipline with organisational purpose
  • A collaborative, grounded and pragmatic leadership style

Whilst experience within charity, healthcare or public sector environments would be advantageous, we are equally interested in speaking with individuals from broader commercial backgrounds who can demonstrate relevant transferable experience and values alignment.
