An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated GP to join our clinical team. If you are looking for a part-time role in a friendly rural location, we may have the ideal position for you. The position is for 4-5 sessions per week (Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday).
Main duties of the job
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Great Eccleston Health Centre is a rural 3 partner practice based on the Fylde Coast, with an excellent reputation for patient care and service provision. The Practice serves a community of 7800 patients and is working closely alongside a neighbouring Practice as part of a Primary Care Network with a combined population of 20,000 patients.
Job responsibilities
- Providing a minimum of 1 Duty Doctor session per week until 6:30pm.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Person Specification
- Current GMC registration on GP list at time of application.
- Be on, or eligible for inclusion on a performers list.
- Broad knowledge of Primary Care and fit with the wider clinical community.
- Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and handle uncertainty, using judgement to refer patients appropriately.
- Ability to work successfully in a multi professional/disciplinary team and across organisational boundaries as well as autonomously.
- Ability to appraise own performance, demonstrate insight and act on feedback.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage own time and workload.
- Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
- Experience of working in primary care.
- Experience of EMIS Web clinical system.
