Our client, a leading automotive manufacturing company is looking for a Licensed Tool & Die Maker to join the team.

Location: Scarborough (Markham Rd & Finch Ave E)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Builds new dies and tooling from drawings and specifications by laying out, setting up, machining, fitting, and finishing metal stock and castings.
  • Repairs dies and tools used in production as needed.
  • Tests repaired dies for proper operation, operating press as required and running test parts.
  • Operates a variety of machine tools to cut, mill or grind.
  • Verifies conformance of completed dies to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, alignments and finish, consistently working to close tolerances.
  • Performs Preventive and Predictive maintenance on tool room equipment.
  • Responsible to ensure that all safety and quality start-up procedures are followed.
  • Participates in all areas of lean manufacturing.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a tool & die maker in an automotive environment.
  • Good working knowledge of crane operation.
  • Good knowledge of various materials (tool steel, etc.), heat treating and basic welding.
  • Proficient use and operation of all tool room equipment including grinders.
  • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated organisation skills, analytical skills, and problem-solving.
  • Able to work well independently and in a team setting.
