The Finance Business Partner will support the delivery of high-quality finance business partnering by providing operational finance partnering support to the rapidly expanding Commercial Directorate. The role will act as the primary operational point of contact for Commercial finance activity, including managing Contract Approval Forms (CAF) reviews, monitoring spends, profiling and forecasting inputs. In addition, the role will hold Finance Business Partner responsibility for a defined set of smaller GBE N support function directorates, providing end to end financial support under the oversight of Senior Finance Business Partners. This is a development-level Business Partner role, with the intention that responsibilities broaden over time as capability grows.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Business Partnering: Act as the day-to-day finance contact for Commercial Managers, Category Managers and Commercial Leads, supporting operation and continuous improvement of processes and controls, working with Commercial and Finance colleagues to strengthen quality at source.
- CAF Governance & Financial Controls: Lead the first review of all Commercial CAFs, ensuring correct coding and funding attribution, budget availability and funding alignment, consistency with approved business cases plus alignment to Commercial strategy and procurement guidance.
- Month-End & Transactional Finance Support: Prepare and post journals (accruals, prepayments, recharges) for Commercial and other corporate directorates as required.
- Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Support Senior FBPs with budget and forecast submissions from all corporate areas. Prepare draft analysis and commentary for Senior FBPs, enabling consistent challenge across directorates.
- Analysis & Deep-Dive Support: Undertake directed deep-dive analysis commissioned by Senior FBPs across the full set of corporate functions. Prepare structured insights to support Senior FBPs in challenge meetings and financial reviews.
- Continuous Improvement & Ways of Working: Recommend improvements to Commercial-related CAF workflows, financial controls and financial governance processes. Contribute to building standardised templates for Commercial analysis and management information.
- Financial Control: Ensure compliance with GBN financial and business procedures and policies. Support financial year end planning and external audit process.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
Essential: Experience in a Finance Business Partner role. Experience handling journals, accruals, financial approvals or procurement-related processes. Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders. Strong analytical and Excel skills. Confidence working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment (given Commercial activity levels).
Desirable: Experience supporting procurement, commercial functions or contract-heavy environments. Experience with CAFs, POs, contract management or commercial processes. Strong grounding in management accounting or financial operations.
Qualifications: Qualified/Part Qualified or QBE Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA).
