About the Role:
Great British Energy is looking for an Energy Yield Analyst to join our GBE Onshore Energy Team. This role will play a key part in contributing to projects, objectives, and wider organisational goals. The Energy Yield Analyst is accountable for the overall success of portfolio energy performance and for providing leadership on the analytical decisions and assumptions used in the design of GBE renewable assets.
Utilising deep technical knowledge, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality analytical data that underpins the development, investment, and delivery of renewable energy projects, including onshore wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The role spans all project lifecycle stages (Initiation → Feasibility → Development → Definition & FID → Execution → Operations) and provides data-driven support across energy yield assessment, commercial viability, system integration, and portfolio optimisation.
The Energy Yield Analyst works closely with Development, Engineering, Commercial, and Investment teams to inform key decisions relating to project selection, design optimisation, investment cases, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Energy Yield & Resource Analysis: Develop and maintain energy yield models for onshore wind, solar PV, and BESS. Assess long-term generation forecasts and analyse losses, curtailment risk, and grid constraints.
- Commercial & Investment Analysis: Manage Financial Model inputs, conduct sensitivity analysis, manage investment cases, benchmark project performance, and assess optimal system size.
- Grid & System Analysis: Work with the Grid Manager to analyse grid connection constraints and assess the impact of curtailment.
- Development & Delivery Support: Lead analytical analysis during site screening and feasibility studies, interface with Engineering and Procurement teams, and monitor operational asset performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in energy analysis, modelling, or a similar quantitative role.
- Strong understanding of onshore wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage systems.
- Advanced Excel skills, familiarity with energy data analysis tools, and understanding of UK energy market fundamentals.
- Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Energy Systems, or related discipline; postgraduate qualification in Renewable Energy or similar (desirable).
