Job Profile
As a Construction Health and Safety Advisor on a nuclear new build project, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all phases of construction. You will work closely with contractors, project managers, and regulatory bodies to embed a proactive safety culture and ensure adherence to nuclear safety protocols, CDM regulations, and site-specific safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and monitoring of health and safety policies and procedures across active projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
- Provide practical guidance and support to site teams and subcontractors on safe working practices.
- Assist in the delivery of health and safety inductions and toolbox talks as required.
- Ensure timely reporting of events, near misses, and maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, and support root cause investigations where required.
- Produce clear and concise reports to highlight safety performance and recommend improvements.
- Promote a positive safety culture and act as a key point of contact for health and safety-related matters on site.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in a health and safety advisor role within construction, with civils/major infrastructure experience advantageous.
- Strong working knowledge of current health and safety legislation and construction site requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise site teams effectively.
- Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented, with a commitment to continual improvement.
- Full driving licence.
- Experience of site-based construction projects.
- Ability to travel to site construction location as needed.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Construction Certificate are essential.
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
