On behalf of National Savings & Investments, we are looking for a Technical Operations Manager - Data (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based hybrid in London. This role requires at least 2 days a week office attendance.

This role is subject to Baseline Personnel Security Standard and financial credit checks.
Role: To provide technical governance, operational oversight and assurance across a complex technology estate supporting critical financial and government-facing services. Working across multiple business domains, including Retail, B2B Payments and Corporate Services, you will ensure technology services are fit for purpose, supplier-delivered solutions meet contractual obligations, and operational changes are assessed, governed and implemented safely.
This role is ideal for a highly technical individual with experience of complex data environments, cloud technologies, banking platforms and supplier management who can bridge the gap between architecture, operations, governance and business stakeholders.
As a Technical Operations Manager - Data, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Provide technical governance and operational oversight across business-critical technology services.
- Review, assess and validate change requests to ensure technical suitability, operational readiness and compliance.
- Ensure suppliers deliver services in line with contractual commitments, service levels and business requirements.
- Advise technical and operational teams on technology decisions impacting live services.
- Monitor and assure the performance, stability and resilience of data, digital and customer-facing platforms.
- Evaluate proposed solutions and ensure they support customer outcomes, regulatory requirements and business objectives.
- Support governance activities relating to technology operations, security, risk and compliance.
- Oversee end-to-end service impacts across applications, data platforms, databases, websites and mobile services.
- Work closely with internal teams and third-party suppliers.
- Provide technical assurance for cloud migration and transformation initiatives.
- Ensure data flows, integrations and dependencies are understood and effectively managed across the technology landscape.
- Support operational decision-making through technical expertise and stakeholder engagement.
Essential:
- Proven experience in a Technical Operations Manager, Technical Governance Manager or similar role.
- Experience working within banking, financial services or highly regulated technology environments.
- Strong knowledge of data flows, system integrations and information management across multiple platforms.
- Practical understanding of cloud technologies, including AWS and Azure environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to challenge and influence technical decisions.
- Ability to understand technical architecture and operational impacts across interconnected systems.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of security frameworks, operational risk management and compliance standards.
- Experience supporting cloud transformation or migration programmes.
- Familiarity with IT service management and governance frameworks.
