On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a User Researcher (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract, hybrid working with 1 day per week in Swindon.

Overview: Working as part of a user centred design team on The Funding Service currently in public beta, the User Researcher will collaborate with service designers, interaction designers and content designers to ensure solutions meet user needs. The role involves scoping, running and analysing research across discovery of new areas yet to be delivered and iterative development of features through alpha and beta, as well as improving what is in public beta. User research is conducted across the end to end service including policy, process and ways of working in addition to digital user journeys to ensure the service meets user and business needs.

As a User Researcher, you will:

  • Plan, design and prepare a range of user research activities to support the design, development and continuous improvement of services.
  • Deliver end-to-end user research activities, including participant recruitment, discussion guide creation, facilitation of sessions and analysis of findings.
  • Analyse research data and synthesise clear, actionable insights, working closely with analytics colleagues to build a comprehensive understanding of user behaviour.
  • Communicate findings to the team and wider organisation through presentations, show and tells, research outputs and formal reports.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers and developers to turn user research findings into user stories and actions that lead to valuable product and service features.
  • Contribute to the wider user research community through knowledge sharing, presentations or written content.
  • Champion user centred design principles and best practice within UKRI.

Experience:

  • Using a range of user research methods, with strong understanding of when and how to apply them effectively.
  • Ability to understand problem spaces and plan research to inform decision making.
  • Analysing research data, synthesising findings and presenting clear insights.
  • Understanding of diverse user needs and ability to include a wide range of users in research activities.
  • Working in multidisciplinary agile teams delivering continuous research.
  • Working to Government Digital Service standards.
  • Involving your team in research activities, and in analysis and synthesis.
  • Working with CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
