On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager (Inside IR35) for an 8 month contract. This is a hybrid working role (three days per week office based - London). The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background.

Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government’s ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.

Job Purpose

The Justice Digital, Data and Science Project Delivery Team is responsible for the delivery of digital and technology projects across the whole of the Ministry of Justice.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use and recognise when something does not work and encourage a mindset of experimentation.
  • Adapt and reflect, be resilient and see outside of the process.
  • Work with Change Management professionals to implement business change.
  • Communicate between the technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Manage stakeholders’ expectations and facilitate difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the delivery flow of a team, managing the pace and tempo and actively addressing internal and external risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Identify and challenge organisational processes of increasing complexity.
  • Guide teams and the business through the implementation of a new process.
  • Understand the environment and prioritise the most important or highest value tasks.
  • Use data to inform planning and manage complex internal and external dependencies.
  • Remove blockers or impediments that affect the plan and develop a plan for difficult situations.
  • Experience working in digital, waterfall or hybrid methodologies.
  • Take ownership of problems and show initiative in aligning the necessary resources to bring about a successful outcome for the business.
  • Understand user needs and engage in meaningful interactions to translate user stories and propose design approaches or services.
  • Demonstrate a passion for digital and technology and how it can be used to enable new ways of working.
  • Stay abreast of new and emerging tools and technologies.
  • Experience of working to relevant Project Management certification or equivalent levels.

Requirements

  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role; a candidate must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who meet all essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
  • This role can only be worked within the UK and not overseas.
