On behalf of the Department for Business & Trade, we are looking for a Business Case Support (Inside IR35) for a contract until the end of December 2026. This is a hybrid working role (40% office attendance - any DBT hub).Job Purpose:You will help coordinate business case activity, bring together information, support project teams and keep work moving to agreed timescales. You do not need to be a business case specialist.We are looking for an adaptable SEO who can quickly understand new subject matter, organise competing priorities and build effective relationships.You will work with the G7 and subject matter experts, using established guidance, templates and processes.The role offers an opportunity to develop knowledge of business cases, governance and portfolio delivery while making an immediate contribution to high-priority work.PLEASE NOTE: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.As a Business Case Support, your main responsibilities will be to:* Work with the G7, project teams and the Secretariat to coordinate the pipeline of business case activity and key meetings.* Gather, organise and summarise information so that decisions are supported by clear, timely evidence.* Use established guidance, templates and processes to help project teams understand requirements and progress their work.* Coordinate input from subject matter experts and follow up actions, dependencies and deadlines.* Support with the coordination of investment assurance processes.* Build constructive relationships across the portfolio, communicating clearly and escalating issues where needed.* Maintain accurate records, trackers and management information, identifying opportunities to improve how the team works.* Work flexibly across the Business Cases, Assurance and Benefits team to respond to changing priorities.Essential:* Ability to pick up unfamiliar subject matter quickly and turn it into practical action.* Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to maintain momentum across several tasks.* Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarise complex information for different audiences.* Confidence in building relationships, coordinating input and providing constructive challenge.* A proactive, adaptable approach, with sound judgement about when to act independently and when to seek advice.Desirable:* Experience of supporting projects, programmes, governance, planning or decision-making processes.* An interest in developing knowledge of business cases and the HM Treasury five case model.Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.Disability ConfidentAs a member of the Disability Confident Scheme, DBT guarantees to interview all candidates who have a disability and who meet all the essential criteria for the vacancy.
