The Head of Investments supports the CFIO in the development & implementation of Pool Re’s investment strategy, playing a leading role in the ongoing oversight of the execution and performance of the investment strategy.

Role responsibilities:

  • Work with the CFIO to assess, develop and continually evolve the investment strategy in alignment with corporate objectives, risk appetite and required governance.
  • Support the execution of regular Strategic Asset Allocation reviews, Tactical Asset Allocation considerations and risk management initiatives.
  • Proactively consider and discuss with the CFIO viable new investment opportunities.
  • Support the CFIO with the integration of climate risk and other material ESG related considerations into the investment strategy.
  • Develop, maintain and continually improve a robust governance framework around the management of investment strategy.
  • In conjunction with the CFIO, continually assess the efficiency of the implementation of investment strategy.
  • Lead the oversight of existing investment managers' performance, compliance & service delivery.
  • Lead the reporting of investment performance internally to key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the alignment of investment strategy against key internal risk metrics.
  • Support all stages of the investment manager life cycle, including asset manager selection and review.
  • Review investment manager operational performance through ongoing relationship management.

Internal Leadership:

  • Work in close co-ordination with other Pool Re functions to support the development of our investment approach.
  • Support the CFIO with internal socialization of the investment function’s activities and performance.
  • Represent Pool Re externally at industry and asset manager conferences as required.

What we are looking for in you:

Experience & Skills required:

  • Strong understanding of fixed income and equity markets.
  • Ability to work well in a small team and independently.
  • Pro-active approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of insurance company regulations and asset liability matching.
  • Capable of writing sound and logical investment reports and proposals.
  • Accuracy and ability to manage deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of other asset classes, including venture capital, private debt assets, HY and alternatives investments.
  • Considerable experience in the investment industry, preferably in insurance asset management strategy or portfolio management.

Qualifications:

  • CFA or equivalent professional qualification; years of experience can be a substitute.
