Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Transport Manager to join our Operations team at our
Telford site.
As Transport Manager you will ensure the effective operation of the Transport function, drive continuous improvements and further develop integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium and cost effective service.
Produce, agree & manage the Transport budget, accounting for any variances.
Take a proactive approach in order to fully engage any new initiatives at the depot, ensuring the integration of projects is successful in line with business needs.

Job responsibilities of Transport Manager include
- Proactively seek optimisation without affecting service
- Integration and control of new cross dock clients where applicable
- Increased vehicle fleet to include offsite parking
- Responsible for the interface between every area of the operation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
- Direct, motivate and develop team members to equip them with the skills to lead and manage their teams
- Ensure compliance with all statutory legislation in regard to Health & Safety and statutory Transport rules and regulations
- Managing a group of approved 3rd party hauliers on national and international journeys
- Responsible for communication cascades throughout the transport operation
- Propose, agree & implement service standard agreements for products with customers in conjunction with other areas of the business
- Consider proposals and implementation of improvements methods in regard to staff, operational changes to transport associated activities which will improve efficiency and/or levels of performance
- Ensure a secure and safe environment for staff and products
- Support the Company in regard to reducing its carbon footprint, for example recycling initiatives
- Client Interface with all major customers including implementation meetings, customer reviews and other ad hoc meetings as required
- Work to tight deadlines on new initiatives
- Provide effective leadership and direction to the Transport Department
- Ensure the Companies Operator Licences are maintained efficiently and accurately at all times. Contingency planning to avoid Company exposure to the Operator Licences
- To drive through continuous improvement initiatives
- Proactive management of new legislation
- Effective Manage the Transport Department through KPI measures
- Effective day-to-day decision making for administration teams
- Retailer Interface in regard to Key supplier management for quality and cost
- Significant UK and continental supplier collection responsibilities
- Achieve efficiency through managing, planning and controlling staff on a daily basis, and an ongoing basis through objectives
