The Warehouse Shift Manager will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse are maintained and product is picked and dispatched to the highest standard in order to meet contractual KPIs.
Working hours: Sunday to Thursday nights, 18.00-02.00
Salary: £38,390.35 plus £2,000 per annum shift allowance.
Key Duties as a Warehouse Shift Manager:
- Manage and motivate the shift team in order to ensure that productivity and service KPIs are achieved or exceeded.
- Ensure the highest possible levels of health, safety and hygiene are upheld so that legislative and quality requirements can be complied with, ensuring relevant paperwork is completed and retained.
- Ensuring the highest levels of Quality and compliance are maintained and that the site operates to the Audit standard required.
- Deliver communication briefings so that all shifts are aware of all Company and local issues and employees are able to offer input/improvements and feel involved.
- Manage Goods Inwards area to ensure that receipts are made quickly and without damaging goods so that stock is available to satisfy orders.
- Develop all team members so that their contributions to the Warehouse can be maximised and succession plan.
- Carry out disciplinary/grievance interviews and investigations in line with Company procedure.
- Monitor and control sickness absence levels in line with Company policy and carry out return to work interviews effectively and efficiently.
- Monitor and control time and attendance system.
- Offer regular feedback, formal and informal, on team and individual performance, including behavioural issues and highlighting good performance and areas for further development.
- Manpower planning, by ensuring the appropriate levels of overtime and agency workers to efficiently and cost-effectively run the shift.
- Enforce and adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
- Monitor and control training for teams, ensuring the correct amount of health & safety representation on shift, i.e. First Aiders, Fire Marshalls etc.
- Support Management in any ad-hoc duties within the Warehouse function.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience within a similar role within Warehouse operations.
- Experience of motivating and managing a large team.
- Strong interpersonal, conciliation skills and the capacity to network with suppliers and customers.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadlines.
- PC Literate: MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of WMS systems would be useful but not essential.
- Experience in a packing, or e-commerce operation would be advantageous.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Great verbal and written communication skills.
