Great Bear (Part of the Culina Group) provides distribution services to FMCG clients. Customer centric service focus is delivered through a site-level empowered culture.

Supporting our e-fulfilment operation for a well-known recognised brand. The site will handle the movement of customer-specific products, including beers, wines and spirits, within a fast-paced warehouse environment.

As a Technical Operations Support Manager, you will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring all required technical equipment is in place and running as it should. You will lead a team and whilst carrying out their duties always maintain Health and Safety and provide a knowledgeable, solutions-based approach to the Warehouse to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of this technical function. You will liaise with various Contractors and Customers to deliver service plans and maintain critical inventory on site.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hour week

Key duties of a Technical Operations Support Manager:

  • Manage a team of Technical Operations Support staff, who play a role in the smooth day-to-day running of the technical function in the warehouse.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the Critical inventory.
  • Ensure all relevant equipment remains compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Work closely with 3rd party suppliers, contractors and liaisons with Customer Ops Excellence teams.
  • Assist the picking and packing team by providing engineering solutions to assist in operational capacity.
  • Monitor all machines and ancillary plant to drive efficiency and reliability.
  • Carry out planned maintenance, inspections and complete repairs with little disruption to the Operational schedules.
  • Look for opportunities to continuously improve performance.
  • Follow set procedures and guidelines with respect to Health and Safety and COMAH Regulations.
  • Ensure good working practices and housekeeping are adhered to.
  • Provide weekly reports to senior management on status of operational equipment.
  • Proactively make recommendations regarding the equipment to meet the site operational requirements and future development.
  • Manage and develop the team, identifying key team members for the future and ensure they are able to fuel the Company’s growth and succession plans.
  • Recruit, train and retain a team of staff that are committed to quality in line with the customers' expectations as a premium brand.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar technical role within a logistics or manufacturing background.
  • A demonstrable track record in managing high volume, high service driven warehouse operations.
  • Experienced in automated or mechanical sortation.
  • Mechanical background.
  • Technically minded with extensive IT skills.
  • Experience of CIP, ideally including formal programs such as Kaizen, Six Sigma and Lean would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to converse at all levels.
  • A highly confident and proactive individual able to represent the Company and customer.
