Joining Great Bear as an EHS Manager you will be the first point of contact for Health & Safety advice. The EHS Manager will be responsible for driving the Health & Safety culture on sites and promoting and encouraging a safe, open and honest working environment including raising awareness of Health & Safety, Quality and Environment standards required. The role will include managing compliance, facilities for the site and property management for our tenants. This role will cover sites - Voltaic and Goresbrook based in Dagenham. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00-16.00 (40 hour week).

Key Duties of an EHS Manager:

  • Preparing and completing Health and Safety audits, ensuring documentation is fully updated.
  • Conducting customer auditing, BRC and internal auditing.
  • Playing an active role in monthly Health and Safety meetings.
  • Devising safety briefs including safety conversations across the site.
  • Assessing COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and assessing risk associated.
  • Maintaining role of Fire Marshall and Racking Inspector and training employees on evacuation procedures.
  • Managing controlled documents and controlling permits to work for contractors on site.
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety for the site in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Implementing and maintaining third party quality agreements to ensure continuous integrity of the supply of critical equipment and components.
  • Property Management - Maintaining contact with tenants on site regarding H&S queries and compliance.
  • Facilities management - Point of contact for contractors etc for both sites.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge in Health & Safety legislation, good working practices as well as regulatory inspections/servicing compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound experience of ensuring a secure and safe site.
  • Proven experience of a fast-moving distribution environment with experience of applying root cause and trend analysis.
  • Experience of Health & Safety audits, project management and applying Quality Risk Management.
  • Ability to expedite non-conformities/compliance as a result of audit inspections.
  • Able to provide the methodology to encourage continuous improvements in order to implement best practices.
  • PC literate with a sound working knowledge of MS Office, with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to persuade and influence employees and customers.
  • Good time management skills with the ability and desire to solve problems.
  • RoSPA qualification and HACCP experience is advantageous.
  • IOSH and NEBOSH qualification is essential.
