Part-time, up to 25 hours per week. This position will remain open until filled, or at the discretion of Great Bay Community College. Grant-funded position. Fill date: August 8, 2025 pending funding confirmation.
Scope: Advises and coordinates programming to support students who are at risk of dropping out or not making satisfactory academic progress as defined in the college’s Academic Policies and/or Financial Aid policies, with a special focus on economically disadvantaged students and other Perkins-defined special populations. This partially grant-funded position reports to the Director of the Center for Academic Planning and Support (CAPS).
Accountabilities:
- Coordinates programming and services to promote the enrollment and completion of economically disadvantaged students, including partnering with seacoast area public housing and high schools/adult education and matching students with appropriate resources on and off campus, such as Admissions, WorkReadyNH, and community programs.
- Provides outreach and success coaching support to the above population, including CTE students not meeting satisfactory academic progress measures, as well as single parents and first-generation students.
- Provides resources to overcome obstacles and offers strategies to avoid or recover from probation. The populations being served may adjust over time based on Perkins Grant’s updated needs assessments.
- Develops and conducts presentations and events in collaboration with Admissions and other GBCC staff both on and off campus to attract economically disadvantaged students and families and help them consider their options for higher education.
- Manages Perkins Grant funding to support CTE student-identified needs and Foundation for NH Community College funds for lending technology lab as available.
- Works with students placed on Academic and/or Financial Aid Probation and Suspension each semester and meets with students from the above populations to provide success coaching for students on Financial Aid appeals as needed.
- As outlined in their academic recovery plans, students refer to Advising and Transfer for course registration and planning and to other CAPS specialists for specific support, such as tutoring, disability services, or ELL support.
- Utilizes Career Coach technology and other resources to assist students in clarifying goals and developing career-readiness skills.
- Refers to WorkReadyNH, Career Center in CAPS, and other programs as appropriate.
- Tracks, analyzes, and reports results, with particular focus on Perkins Grant-eligible populations in approved CTE programs and public housing residents.
- Complies with all system, college, state, and federal rules and regulations—other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in education, counseling, student services/development, or related educational discipline.
Experience: Two (2) years’ experience as a teacher, academic advisor, student services/student success advisor or coach, or related academic or student services experience within an educational setting.
Licensure/Certification: Valid NH driver’s license and/or access to transportation for statewide travel.
