The predicted salary is between 31650 - 43607 Β£ per year.
We have an exciting opportunity for a teacher of the deaf to join our highly regarded, friendly and supportive team within our mainstream secondary school. The successful candidate will work with up to 27 deaf students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. We would like to recruit an enthusiastic, qualified teacher of the deaf who has a particular interest in the teaching of maths or language and literacy to deaf students.
Responsibilities
- Have a record of good/outstanding teaching.
- Be committed to inclusive practice.
- Demonstrate experience of working with deaf students.
- Show a thorough understanding of language development in deaf children.
- Have experience of effective assessment and monitoring procedures.
- Demonstrate a commitment to high standards of achievement by deaf children.
- Be able to work effectively with families and external agencies.
- Be well organised and able to work as part of a team and independently, both in the Resource Base and in the school as a whole.
- Have good ICT skills and an ability to maintain audiological equipment.
Qualifications
- Teacher of the Deaf qualification.
- Teachers without the qualification may be considered if they can demonstrate an active interest and commitment to the education of deaf students, have experience working with deaf students, and plan to work towards gaining the qualification.
- BSL Level 1 essential; BSL Level 2 and 3 desirable and a commitment to achieving them is expected.
- Experience of teaching English, Mathematics or KS2 (preferred but not essential).
