Location: Bolton

Reporting to: Warehouse Director

Salary: £35,000 - £37,500 depending on skills and experience

Hours of Work: Contracted 42.5 hours per week – Mon to Fri – 10am – 6pm

Job Summary

To safely and effectively manage drivers, fleet, 3rd party logistics providers, budgets, IT and other resources in a customer focused and cost-efficient manner to meet business requirements and support profitable growth. This role will report directly to the Warehouse Director, overseeing approx. 30 drivers and 3 administrative staff while managing multiple 3rd party relationships with providers such as DX, DPD, and Parcelforce.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Manage the routing of the vehicle effectively.
  • Ensure all communication devices are in use and utilized correctly.
  • Oversee cost control and KPI performance, actively seeking to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Manage 3PL providers by controlling expenditure and ensuring service excellence.
  • Implement controls and procedures to manage all aspects of customer service and communication.
  • Understand and appreciate customer requirements to exceed service expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge of transport legislation and best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
  • Conduct safe vehicle operational checks.
  • Plan driver resources strategically to maximize capacity and reduce costs.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and other reasonable duties as required.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and customer experience.
  • Be responsible for personal health and safety and that of colleagues.
  • Work in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of materials accessed during employment.
  • Implement the Equal Opportunities Policy in daily activities.
