About Graystone Gallery

Graystone Gallery is a vibrant contemporary art space in the heart of Edinburgh’s Stockbridge district, showcasing a diverse range of works from emerging and established artists. With an ever-evolving exhibition program, we’re passionate about connecting art lovers with exceptional pieces. As we grow, we’re looking for a motivated and talented part-time Gallery Assistant to join our team and help us take things to the next level.

What You’ll Do

  • Engage and Sell: Connect with clients, provide exceptional customer service, and help close sales.
  • Content Creation: Write captivating artist profiles and exhibition descriptions, and manage social media to boost our online presence.
  • Event Support: Help coordinate and run gallery events, artist talks, and exhibitions throughout the year.
  • Stock Management: Keep the stockroom organised and ensure all artworks are properly labelled and easily accessible.
  • Gallery Operations: Assist with hanging exhibitions, updating price tags, and maintaining the gallery’s overall presentation.
  • Client Relationships: Manage after-sales follow-ups and gather client feedback to ensure satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

  • Art Background: Arts degree or equivalent visual literacy. A History of Art postgraduate degree is a bonus!
  • Sales Skills: You know how to build relationships, close sales, and hit targets.
  • Organisational Skills: You’re detail-oriented, efficient, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for client interactions and social media.
  • Tech-Savvy: Experience with gallery management software (preferably Artlogic) and social media platforms.
  • Team Player: You’re supportive, proactive, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
  • Stamina: Able to handle the physical aspects of the role, including setting up exhibitions and managing stock.
