We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join the team at City, St George's University of London. We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef who is adaptable to flexible working hours, in line with the demands of the hospitality & retail business. We currently have six exciting offerings at our restaurant, which include street food, comfort food, and a dedicated salad and jacket potato station. Additionally, we are on the lookout for a skilled chef to create baked goods such as brownies, cakes, muffins, and more for our retail outlets. Hospitality is also a significant segment for us, where we focus on producing bespoke food tailored to meet our clients' specific requirements.

The responsibilities of a Senior Sous Chef typically include:

  • Preparation and Cooking: Overseeing the preparation and cooking of dishes from different cuisines.
  • Menu Development: Supporting the Head Chef in creating and developing new menu items.
  • Training Staff: Providing training and guidance to junior chefs and kitchen staff to ensure high standards of food preparation and presentation.
  • Stock Control: Monitoring inventory levels, managing orders, and controlling food waste to maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Health and Safety: Ensuring that all kitchen staff adhere to health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Team Management: Acting as the second-in-command in the kitchen, stepping in for the Head Chef when necessary, and managing the kitchen brigade effectively.
