Location – Runcorn

£12.21 per hour

Role Description

Gray Healthcare are recruiting a Male Support Worker, within the Runcorn area of Cheshire to support a Male who has a diagnosis of psychosis and OCD.

The person we support lives independently in their own home receiving 1-2-1 support 24 hours a day.

The person is supported by a male only team on shifts of days and waking nights.

The male we support enjoys going out in the community doing daily activities with his support staff, video gaming and watching rugby.

We are recruiting drivers only for this role as the individual we support will have a mobility vehicle to access the community.

Male Support Worker Required Skills and Experience

  • Full UK Driving License – Essential .
  • Social care experience, ideally within Autism and Learning Disabilities and with some experience of supporting individuals with mental health needs such as anxiety.
  • Experience supporting individuals with behaviours perceived as challenging.
  • Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.
  • Experience adapting communication skills, verbal and non-verbal, to aid understanding of the supported individual.
  • Motivated to promote engagement in meaningful activity
  • A desire to support the individual in their cultural and spiritual needs
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months. We no longer have any certificates of sponsorship available and are unable to consider sponsorship.
  • This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
  • Working Hours

    24 hour contract 2 x 12 hour days shifts from 8am to 8pm + 2 sleeps

    Induction and Training

    We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training. (Company induction, systems, and Medication.) Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, this is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.
