Role Description

Male Support Worker (full UK Manual Driving Licence essential). Gray Healthcare are recruiting a Male Support Worker within the L15 area of Liverpool, to support a gentleman in his 50’s who has a diagnosis of Epilepsy, Mental Health & Learning Disabilities. The gentleman we support lives independently in his own home receiving 1:2:1 support 24 hours a day. Shifts 8am to 8pm and sleeps 8pm to 8am.

β€œI have lived in my own home for many years and enjoy where I live with the staff that support me. I have a great sense of humour and enjoy a good joke. I love all the holiday seasons and enjoy the build-up to them where I can shop for presents for my family. I am well known in the local community and enjoy going out in my mobility car to the shops, cafes and visiting my family. I have a family caravan in Wales that I enjoy visiting regularly, I also go on holiday to Blackpool once a year in September where I love to visit the fair and my favourite ride is the Ghost Train! I will need your support to help keep me safe and empower me to work towards my goals. I like to be supported by people who are person-centred in their approaches, who are also motivating, patient and non-judgemental so I can achieve maximum independence.”

Male Support Worker Required Skills And Experience

  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence – ESSENTIAL
  • Social care experience, ideally within Mental health and with some experience of supporting individuals with Epilepsy
  • Experience providing encouragement to a person with complex health needs
  • Experience supporting individuals with behaviours which may be considered challenging
  • Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments
  • You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months. We no longer have any certificates of sponsorship available and are unable to consider sponsorship
  • This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references

Hours

24 hour Contract; 2 x 12 hour day shifts per week, 8am to 8pm (Alternative weekend cover) + 1 x 12 hour sleep shift, from 8pm to 8am, paid at Β£100 per sleep.

Induction and Training

We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (Company induction, systems, and Medication). Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.
