Who we want… (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational or environmental health and safety (or similar) and a minimum of 5 years of related construction safety experience or training OR a minimum of 5-10 years of related construction safety experience or training.
  • Possess leadership skills that help cultivate a cohesive and successful team.
  • Light/heavy industrial construction experience.
  • Must have the ability to identify known potential exposures and lead the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • NCSO and Advanced First Aid certifications are strongly preferred.
  • The new team member should be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development.

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Serve as on-site Safety Officer for assigned projects.
  • Monitor and inspect the job site for health and safety compliance, identifying any potential hazards that may result in injuries or accidents.
  • Implement all proper safety and health policies onsite, discussing any issues with the project manager, contractor, and other safety professionals.
  • Provide health and safety training and information to all employees onsite to ensure that site safety requirements are being met at all times.
  • Establish and manage a jobsite safety culture in accordance with Gray’s safety program.
  • Assist in onboarding and mentoring of new site safety team members on your assigned project.
  • Review, evaluate, and make determinations on contractor site safety programs.
  • Mentor contractors to help assure compliance with Gray guidelines.
  • Maintain owner and Gray specified safety records.
  • Assist in developing project-specific site safety plans and an emergency response plan.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel to resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
