Gray Construction is looking for an experienced MEP Assistant Manager to support our Preconstruction team. This position will be based at any Gray Construction office location.

Who we want… (Requirements)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering (or related discipline) is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Equivalent years of related experience will be considered in place of a technical degree. Pursuit of an MBA or related business qualification is desirable.
  • Experience: Prior experience in construction estimating or project management is advantageous but not required. Mechanical Candidates – Experience with HVAC, plumbing, process piping, ductwork, wastewater, process engineering, mechanical design, or construction management is advantageous but not required. Electrical Candidates – Experience with electrical distribution systems, controls, lighting, power generation, process engineering, electrical design, single line diagrams, or construction management is advantageous but not required.
  • Skills: Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estimating software is a plus. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimating: Analyze historical data to prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical or electrical components of projects. Collaborate with senior managers to refine estimating processes and improve accuracy.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Engage with mechanical or electrical subcontractors to gather quotes, level bids, and assess capabilities. Ensure subcontractor estimates align with project requirements and budget constraints.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of estimates, communications, and project specifications. Prepare and present reports on estimating activities and project status to senior management.
  • Project Management: Assist in the preparation of project proposals and bids. Support the transition from pre-construction to construction phases by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Design: Influence and guide the design of new systems, buildings, and campuses.
