Role Summary

You will own product design for our flagship VR app, helping us deliver experiences that bring user delight. The overall vision and guiding principles for VR design have been set by our founders, but the challenge will be to translate this into a tangible, cohesive product experience. While the main focus will be on VR, we have a product ecosystem consisting of a VR app, web app, and desktop app. This means that it will be important to think holistically across the product ecosystem to ensure consistency and quality in the user flows. From time to time, you may be working with our other product designer on the web or desktop apps. This will be a challenging but rewarding role for the right person: there are no rules or conventions when designing for the spatial environment of VR, and we are at the cutting edge of defining best-in-class.

This also means that you may often need to cast away familiar processes and tools like Figma, and prototype directly in VR (or physically!) to really be able to experience what an interaction feels like. You will be supported by a passionate group of internal stakeholders - whether that is our founders or your peers in engineering and product. There will be many strong opinions, and we strive to foster an environment of healthy challenge and collaborative debate in order to reach the best solution possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own product design for VR, and support on the web and desktop apps where needed
  • Refine and iterate the vision of VR UX with our founder CEO, and use this to inform direction of travel
  • Work collaboratively with peers in Engineering and Product from scoping, ideation to delivery to ensure we have solved the identified problem with the best solution possible balancing feasibility, time, and user experience
  • Run user research and testing as needed to identify areas of opportunity, ideate, and validate assumptions and prototypes
  • Continue to iterate on and maintain our VR design system
  • Be an evangelist and voice of Design internally within the company, sharing work in progress prototypes and the thought process to take the broader team on the journey

Requirements

  • Experience being the sole product designer on a cross-functional delivery team
  • Experience working at small or early stage companies
  • Able to work minimum 3 days a week from our studio in Brixton, London

Benefits

  • Uncapped holidays: The startup world is busy, we encourage taking time off to recharge and rest.
  • Remote Flexible working: we appreciate that everyone has their optimum setup and things to work around in life. We support remote and hybrid working as well as varying hours.
  • £50 month personal wellbeing budget
  • Private healthcare
  • £1,000 personal budget per year for professional development.
  • Team lunch Wednesdays: out together in person, or virtually with food delivery credit.
  • Socials and a biannual global meet up: we are passionate about bringing everyone together whenever we can, this helps build tighter bonds and alignment.
  • Enhanced parental leave policy (maternity and paternity)
  • Cyclescheme & Techscheme
  • Real work ownership - you drive your own initiatives and have an opportunity to take your work all the way through to launch.
  • Opportunity to work with some of the world's leading design companies
  • Transparent insight into the startup journey, plus unparalleled learning if you’re up for the challenge!
