Location: Reading, UK

Hours: Training Period (24 weeks): Monday to Friday, 6:00am-2:00pm or 2:00pm-10:00pm (depending on business requirements). Permanent Night Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 10:00pm-6:00am.

Pay: £15.00-£17.50 per hour, depending on experience, plus a 20% night shift premium (applicable once on permanent night shifts).

Are you an experienced CNC Press Setter looking for a role where your skills are recognised, your performance is rewarded, and you can make a real impact? We’re looking for a motivated and reliable Night Shift CNC Press Setter to join our close-knit manufacturing team in Reading. You’ll play a key role in producing high-quality perforated metal and plastic components while helping drive continuous improvement across our production processes.

Please note: All successful candidates will complete a 24 week training programme on either the 6:00am-2:00pm or 2:00pm-10:00pm shift, Monday to Friday. Candidates must be able to work either of these shifts during the training period. Once training has been successfully completed, you will move to your permanent night shift of 10:00pm-6:00am, Sunday to Thursday.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Set and operate CNC perforating and punch presses to achieve production targets.
  • Produce high-quality components that meet customer and company standards.
  • Carry out quality inspections in line with ISO procedures.
  • Support the Night Shift Team Leader and deputise when required.
  • Help drive continuous improvement initiatives across the production team.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
  • Assist with training and developing team members, identifying opportunities to build skills and capability.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, quality and performance.
  • Support our environmental objectives by working in accordance with ISO 14001 requirements.

What Success Looks Like

  • Performance will be measured through:
  • Press running efficiency.
  • Scrap reduction.
  • Customer quality performance.
  • SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) performance and setup efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills

  • Manufacturing experience with a strong mechanical background.
  • Experience setting CNC punch/perforating presses.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometres and verniers.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Comfortable using PCs and production systems.
  • Flexibility to work the required training shifts and additional hours when needed to meet business requirements.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, including SMED and 5S.
  • Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
  • Power Press Regulations Certificate.
  • First Aid qualification.
