We are currently looking for a CMM Operator to join our well-established client in Ashford, Kent.
Job Purpose: The successful candidate will be responsible for operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and associated inspection equipment to ensure aluminium castings and machined components meet drawing specifications and quality standards. The CMM Operator will be responsible for accurately measuring parts, interpreting data, and communicating results to production teams to support consistent product quality.
Responsibilities:
- Load aluminium castings into fixtures and run pre-set CMM inspection programs
- Check that all measurements are accurate according to drawings and engineering specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings including dimensions, tolerances, and geometric features
- Record and analyse measurements data identifying trends and deviations
- Perform visual inspection of castings and machined parts for surface defects and/or damage
- Use manual inspection tools such as micrometres, verniers, bore gauges and other hard gauges as required
- Communicate clearly with machinists, supervisors, and engineers regarding any dimensional or quality issues found during inspection
- Support the Quality department in maintaining accurate inspection records and reports
- Ensure all measuring equipment is handled correctly and kept in good working order
- Follow all company health, safety, and quality procedures
Skills & Experience:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment
Desirable:
- Experience inspecting aluminium castings or machined components
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and CNC machining
- Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Good understanding of dimensional inspection methods and tools
Pay Rate: Β£13.97 per hour
Hours: Rotating shifts weekly: 6am - 2pm & 1:45pm - 10pm
