Join Gravity Media as a Live Operations Technician supporting Premier League Studios from their new cutting-edge Olympia facility. In this hands-on role, you'll provide technical and operational support across live contribution and distribution, IP and HD-SDI workflows, signal routing, event preparation, and system monitoring. ABOUT THE ROLE

A BRIEF SUMMARY: Join the Gravity Media Technology team, in partnership with our clients, Premier League Studios, predominantly based at their new cutting-edge broadcast facility in Olympia, but with some travel to other sites including our remote broadcast centre in West London. Part of a new automation-led, technologically advanced way of delivering the highest quality broadcast services. Remote production is central to what we do, and our engineers are a key technical link between production teams, galleries, outside broadcasts and distribution partners. You'll be part of a small, supportive team responsible for day-to-day technical operations and broadcast workflows across the facility and our remote productions. WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Providing primary operational and technical support for Contribution and Distribution lines.
  • Acting as the first point of technical contact for Production teams within galleries and Remote and outside broadcast teams.
  • Preparing for live events through configuration of encoders and decoders.
  • Supervising live services using network dashboards and traditional monitoring.
  • Switching signals in and out as required.
  • Assessing signal quality and system stability across IP and HD-SDI workflows.
  • Planning and maintaining workflows with careful consideration of on-air risk.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and regular system health checks.
  • Managing routing and switching of feeds using internal booking and automation systems.
  • Escalating technical issues clearly and calmly, and working with vendor support where needed.
  • Supporting operational workflows across the technology and operations centre.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers as part of the wider team.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE

Essential experience and understanding:

  • A solid understanding of MCR workflows and broadcast technology fundamentals.
  • Experience working with IP-based video routing, including SMPTE-2110.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and networking infrastructure dashboards.
  • Experience lining up incoming video, audio, and communications circuits.
  • Understanding of Ultra HD and HDR working practices.
  • Comfortable working with structured processes such as ticketing, documentation, and change control.

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Comfortable communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Able to prioritise work and manage competing tasks in a structured way.
  • Calm and methodical when responding to live operational issues.
  • Proactive in identifying potential problems before they affect output.

Nice to have (but not essential):

  • Experience liaising with third-party circuit suppliers.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with large-scale live broadcast or remote production environments.
