Gravity Media is seeking a Broadcast IP Infrastructure Engineer based in High Wycombe to design, implement, and support IP and broadcast networking solutions across OB trucks, flypacks, and remote production environments. You’ll work with cutting‑edge technologies including ST2110, IP networking, and broadcast IT systems, collaborating with expert engineering teams on some of the world’s most‑watched live events, with opportunities for travel, learning, and innovation in a global media organisation.

About the Role

A full‑time position based at our High Wycombe offices specialising in broadcast networking technology and IP related infrastructure deployed in OB trucks and flypacks, with a key focus of implementing and maintaining a range of solutions across our fleet. This position is primarily based at our outside broadcast HQ but there will be requirements to work at other sites (Watford and White City) and occasional demand for onsite project delivery requiring some domestic or international travel to site.

Our business and clients have become increasingly dependent on IP solutions that operate in harmony with traditional baseband technology and TV production practices, both for onsite and remote operations. You will work with the wider technology leadership team to integrate and manage infrastructure within our outside broadcast and remote working systems, ensuring a high service level of IT based workflows through the application of best practices.

The role primarily involves network engineering skills combined with practical experience / keen interest in systems integration and computer technology within broadcast television.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • The Broadcast IP Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for building, configuring and maintaining networking infrastructure and software systems within our broadcast television environment.
  • You will work with the technology leadership and senior engineering teams from various business units to implement infrastructure solutions to best achieve operational and client objectives:
    • Install and upgrade network infrastructure.
    • Deploy and maintain control system servers, applications and commonly used IT monitoring and visualisation tools throughout our fleet.
    • Gain experience and support operational teams in the preparation and delivery of end‑to‑end IP systems including switch fabrics, multicast routing and PTP timing.
    • Assist in troubleshooting broadcast IT hardware, software and networking issues.
    • Work with colleagues to ensure designs and systems align with evolving industry standards and internal company policies.
    • Maintain documentation of technical systems and workflows.

Additionally, there is scope and opportunity within the Broadcast IP Infrastructure Engineer role to participate in internal R&D activities, specifically relating to the ongoing development of control, monitoring and software defined production workflows.

This Role Is For You If

  • Knowledge or a keen interest in networking technology, protocols and equipment.
  • Understanding of layer‑2, layer‑3, multicast and dynamic routing protocols.
  • Operational knowledge of enterprise switch equipment, relevant networking technologies and practices related to management networks used in broadcast television.
  • Experience of Cisco, Arista or Netgear equipment is desirable.
  • An understanding of virtualisation technologies, Microsoft and Linux applications, IT monitoring tools and IT server equipment is desirable.
  • Experience or interest in live TV broadcasting workflows and production practices.
  • An appetite to learn about advanced ST2110 media networks and associated control systems.
  • Practical experience of building technical systems, including complete configuration, testing, commissioning and support.
  • Strong ability to analyse engineering problems and present simplified and resilient solutions for our clients.
  • Ability to cope with dynamic situations and time pressure.
  • Time management and capability to prioritise workload and tasks.
  • Good communicator with the ability to clearly explain technical workflows, issues and solutions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a broadcasting environment.
  • Willingness to learn outside of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in learning new technologies.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Interested in Microsoft Windows, Mac and Linux applications.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and CAD tools for producing detailed technical documentation.
