We’re growing fast – across continents and disciplines – and we’re looking for passionate individuals who want to make a difference: for our clients, our teams, and the world around us.
We’re looking for a Lead Digital Designer to join our UX & Design team. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can lead the design of large-scale websites, digital platforms and other complex digital experiences from brief through to launch. You’ll combine strong visual and interaction design with strategic thinking. You’ll work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to turn business, audience, brand and technical requirements into digital experiences that are distinctive, usable, accessible and practical to build. You’ll also guide other designers, contribute to design systems and help maintain Gravity’s creative standards across projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the digital design direction for websites, platforms and other digital experiences.
- Translate client objectives, audience needs, brand requirements and technical constraints into clear design directions.
- Create visual concepts, page designs, responsive layouts, interaction patterns, prototypes and design documentation in Figma.
- Present work to clients and senior stakeholders, run workshops and manage feedback through to clear decisions.
- Build and maintain scalable design systems, component libraries, templates and responsive patterns.
- Work closely with UX, strategy, content, development, project management, SEO, analytics and QA teams from discovery through implementation.
- Support design handover and QA, helping to protect design intent through build and launch.
- Provide direction, feedback and mentoring to other designers, and contribute to pitches, proposals and new business activity.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 6+ experience in digital, visual or interaction design, ideally within an agency or consultancy.
- A strong portfolio of large-scale websites, digital platforms or complex multi-page experiences.
- Experience translating brand identities into digital experiences across templates, components, content types and breakpoints.
- Advanced Figma skills, including components, variants, variables, libraries, prototyping and design systems.
- Strong visual design craft, with a good understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, imagery, interaction and motion.
- A clear understanding of accessibility, usability, responsive design and web development considerations.
- Experience presenting to clients, facilitating workshops and explaining design decisions clearly.
- Experience giving direction or mentoring other designers.
- The ability to balance creative ambition with user needs, technical constraints, budgets and delivery deadlines.
Desirable
- AI tools used thoughtfully within the design process.
- Enterprise CMS platforms such as Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager, WordPress or HubSpot.
- Design tokens, component governance, modular content models or composable architectures.
- Motion design, animation, interaction prototyping or emerging digital interfaces.
- User research, regulated sectors or technically complex subject matter.
Portfolio: Please include a portfolio showing your personal contribution to digital design leadership and delivery. We’re particularly interested in work that demonstrates your thinking from brief and exploration through to design systems, responsive design, prototyping and final implementation.
