We are seeking an experienced and proactive generalist HR Manager to lead the Human Resources function within a dynamic and customer-focused leisure business. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for shaping and delivering the people strategy, ensuring a positive employee experience, and supporting operational excellence across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creation and implementation of the HR strategy, ensuring it aligns with business objectives
- Act as a business partner and trusted advisor to Managers on all people related matters, including leadership challenges and employee relations
- Drive organisational development, culture and engagement activities
- Maintain and analyse HR metrics, data and dashboards to provide insight into workforce trends and risks
- Use people data to produce and present insights to support business performance and strategic planning
- Support managers in handling performance, conduct, and absence issues ensuring fair and consistent practices
- Analyse weekly, monthly and quarterly HR casework data, including themes, key learnings and tracking KPIs
- Foster a positive, inclusive and high performance culture
- Support with recruitment activity across the business
- Develop employer branding strategies to attract talent in a competitive leisure market
- Identify and develop internal talent pipelines
- Work closely with Learning & Development to promote continuous learning, including leadership development
- Develop, update, and enforce HR policies, ensuring compliance with current UK employment legislation
- Responsible for the management, maintenance and development of the HRIS (elementsuite) ensuring processes are adhered to and undertaking reviews to ensure the system is utilised
- Ensure effective delivery of day-to-day HR support across the business
- Continuously review and improve HR processes to drive efficiency and consistency
- Lead, coach and develop HR Officer
- Develop, manage and monitor the annual HR budget, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Oversee the HR Officer in maintaining up-to-date and accurate team member records
- Ensure robust processes and controls are in place to support timely and accurate data submission to the Payroll team
- Conduct regular audits and checks of HR data to minimise payroll errors and ensure compliance
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in an HR Manager or senior HR generalist role
- Experience working in the leisure, hospitality, retail or similarly fast-paced industry is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands on
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience using HRIS systems (HRIS), ideally elementsuite or similar
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability
- Experience of payroll administration is advantageous
- CIPD Level 5 (or above) or equivalent experience
